Prof. Dr. -Ing. Kai Desinger


CEO
Prof. Kai Designer serves Fiagon as President, Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors.
Desinger presents a rich, successful background within the biomedical device industry. In 1999, he founded Celon AG medical instruments in Berlin, Germany, which he sold in 2005 to the blue-chip enterprise Olympus, continuing to function as the CEO & President until the end of 2008. In 1998 Desinger was the driver and inventor behind the founding technology of SenoRx, Irvine, which was sold to C.J. Bard in 2010. Prior to this, he worked in a supporting R&D role for Everest Medical in Minneapolis, which was later sold to Gyrus/Olympus.
Desinger received his doctorate with summa cum laude at the Technical University of Berlin in mechanical engineering and micro mechanics. He subsequently held leading research positions at the Laser Medicine Center Berlin and at the Institute for Medical Physics at the Free University of Berlin. Due to his comprehensive and outstanding scientific achievements, as well as his years of independent teaching, Dr. Desinger was awarded the title of honorary professor at the Technical University of Berlin in 2012.

Dr. Friedrich Jacobi


CFO
Dr. Friedrich Jacobi serves Fiagon as the Chief Financial Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors. Jacobi spearheads Fiagon’s financial operations, overseeing Investor Relations, Financial Corporate Strategy, Internal Auditing, and Treasury. In addition, he serves as the global head of Human Resources.
Jacobi joined Fiagon in the first quarter of 2017, bringing more than 16 years of experience in medical and life science industries. He further adds over 20 years of business administration and management experience to the executive team. Pulling from his extensive background with both startup and large companies, Jacobi offers considerable experience transitioning a company from the startup phase through the high growth phase into mid-capitalization and acquisition. Most recently, he served as CFO and Business Manager for Allergopharma, the global allergy subsidiary of Merck KGaA, playing a vital role in the high growth and performance of the company during his nine-year tenure.
Jacobi is a proponent of the agile business model implemented in Fiagon. He advocates a proactive management style that allows for maximizing efficient use of company resources. In line with Fiagon’s core values, Jacobi ascribes to employee empowerment methodology, seeking to support and promote employee growth. He holds a PhD and Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Dr. Timo Krüger


CIO
Dr. Timo Kruger serves Fiagon as the Chief Innovation Officer.
Krüger received his PhD in Engineering from Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin in 2006. Specializing in clinical navigation and robotics, his doctoral thesis served as the basis for Fiagon’s inception. Timo Krüger and Dirk Mucha founded Fiagon in Berlin, Germany in 2007. Prior to enrolling in the doctoral program at Charité, he worked for two years with Metronom Automation GmbH, which specialized in industrial navigation and robotics. Krüger received his Masters degree in Engineering at the Technische Universität Berlin.
Krüger maintains that there are two keystones for Fiagon’s success: product iteration speed and employee empowerment. He believes both of these keystones are a factor of the team surrounding him. This belief manifests in Timo’s dedication to Fiagon’s employees, engendering the passion needed for quick, effective solutions to ever-evolving market needs.

Dr. Dirk Mucha


CTO
Dr. Dirk Mucha serves as the Chief Technical Office and as a member of the Board of Directors. In addition to leading software-hardware research and development, Mucha serves as the head of Regulatory, overseeing product approval for global markets.
Fiagon has maintained a strong focus on continuous innovation, driving progress in surgical navigation over the last decade. Dirk has spearheaded the technological expansion of Fiagon into global Neurosurgery including brain and spine. As co-founder, Mucha has led his R&D teams under a philosophy of streamlined development, utilizing rapid iteration cycles to maximize efficiency.
In 2009 Mucha received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin. His focus in Electromagnetic Sensors for Image Guided Surgery led him to join Krüger as co-founder of the then infant company, Fiagon, upon graduation. Mucha also holds a Masters in Science in electrical engineering and control systems from the Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany and the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
Devoted to supporting research and education within the community, Mucha has facilitated numerous Masters and Doctoral degrees over the last decade. Employing equal commitment to his team, he has cultivated a prolific R&D program, cementing Fiagon as an industry leader in electromagnetic navigation technologies.

Matt Jones


President, NA
Matt Jones is the President of Fiagon North America. He oversees the development and execution of North American company strategy as well as tactical operations.
Beginning his tenure with Fiagon as the Director of Sales and Marketing, Jones opened the North American office in December of 2014, spearheading Fiagon’s entry into the US market. Jones brings over 14 years of experience in the medical device industry to Fiagon with time spent at Biomet, Olympus and ENTrigue Surgical in various sales and marketing roles. He offers extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions from four takeovers, most recently playing a role in ArthroCare’s 2013 acquisition of ENTrigue Surgical.
Jones derives passion from building and developing his team, and believes in empowering employees to promote intradivisional problem solving.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Jacksonville University.
